Oh you know...

This blog attempts to explain the major, and minor, events in my life in my own words. It's kind of like an ongoing auto-biography/journal.

The ball has dropped and 2010 is here. Sometimes I wish that, instead of a ball, it would be a really big hammer that signaled the countdown of a new year. “It’s hammer time!”, or “The hammer’s dropping! Get down!”, (spoken in a German/Austrian accent of course) sounds way cooler than “It’s ball time!” or “The ball’s dropping! Get down!”. Let’s take some time to recap the last couple of months…

First and foremost, and yes I am getting giddy just at the thought of getting to put this in writing, I have a girlfriend. And, just to warn everyone ahead of time, this story is in fact NOT a lie, nor is any of if a fabrication. Her name is Marie  I’ll leave a lot of details out (like our first kiss…baBOOM!!!! schwing schwing), but I’ll let the readers in on how it all started:

Well, we first met in high school at district band. She was a clarinetist and I was a drummer. APPARENTLY she would look back to the percussion section and thought I was cute. Logically, she wanted to talk to me. So, at our lunch break, she came and sat with some of my friends and me at a Chinese buffet place. Here’s the thing, I’ve never claimed to be very mature, and for some reason I (along with all of the other dudes at the table) got the biggest case of the giggle fits every time our server came to the table to fill our glasses of water. As soon as they would subside our server would return, and thus a vicious cycle was created. The point of the matter is I did not heed much attention to the pretty girl sitting at our table. One thing led to another and, well…I guess she was so impressed she was too embarrassed to say something!

Fast forward five years: We are hanging out with a group of friends, and lo and behold James and Marie are at long last reunited. I knew I recognized her from somewhere, so I go to re-introduce myself.
James: “Hi! My name is James!”
Marie: “Oh I know you from band! The first time we met I thought you were gay.”
James: “Oh…”
*End of conversation*

Needless to say I was less than pleased with how things turned out in that conversation. I felt like the wind had been blown from my sails. I was happy to meet a familiar face, and BOOM shut down! It’s like when the waiter returns with your credit card at a fancy restaurant and in big red letters stamped on the receipt it reads “REJECTED”. That really was the entire extent of our conversation. We said nothing the rest of the night. Now there is a great deal that happened in between our reuniting and the start of our official relationship, but I can cover the gist of it in a few sentences. As it turns out, Marie was really impressed by my intelligent sense of humor, the incredible command of my body on the dance floor, and my sinuous and tantalizing physique. A combination of these attributes, along with my aura of “irresistibility” while I am wearing my XBOX headset, as well as a nice pair of slacks, led to her falling completely head over heels for me. For the record, I fell first…well first the second time anyway.

Also, I have a nephew! ZOMG! Josh and Erica had their first child (probably of like 12). His name is Easton Lamar Weaver and he has the honor of being the latest edition to the growing Weaver family! He looks like Josh! But...wait he kind of looks like Erica. Yeah, definitely more like Erica. But then again, I'm seeing a lot of Josh...anyway, he looks awesome with an XBOX controller for sure! Well done guys.

Tim Tebow has been the quarterback of the Florida Gators for the past 4 years and is arguably the greatest college football player of all time. Next Sunday, there will be an ad airing sometime during the Super bowl about how his mother, while she was pregnant with him, was told that her life was in danger and that she should abort the pregnancy. She chose to not abort (obviously) and Tim Tebow has been an incredible person both on the field and off the field. Although no one has seen the ad, it is my opinion that the purpose of this ad is to show a side to the pro-choice abortion argument that is hardly ever discussed: choosing life. I would imagine most of the readers of this blog have seen the outrage that many pro-life proponents have expressed at this ad being displayed (an ad that has not even been shown yet mind you). They want it taken off the air. Quite frankly, if they are willing to spend 2 million dollars on 30 seconds of air-time, that is their choice. At the same time, those who are against a woman showing that choosing life is not necessarily a bad thing have choices in this matter as well. If they wish not to see it they can turn their television off when it comes on. If they wish to present a counter argument to, what I view as something that is only good and decent (how can you be against promoting life, I mean seriously), then spend 2 million dollars of your own money and put it on during the Super Bowl. Do not try to censor me because you are insecure about how much your arguments suck for taking this ad off the air. When proponents of the “pro-choice” movement are arguing for a woman’s right to choose, all too often it seems as though they are arguing FOR choosing abortion. In this particular scenario with the Tebows, Mrs. Tebow was offered the choice of aborting the pregnancy AND the choice of seeing the pregnancy through. She chose to *sit yourself down for this* put her own life at risk for the life of another. And a hush fell over the crowd…

This just in: Missionaries from Montana arrested on charges of child-trafficking in Haiti. Thank goodness we are concerned about the correct things here. Why would we focus our energies, monies, and legal manpower on food distribution and hospital construction? It makes much more sense to arrest missionaries who are offering a few orphans the promise of temporary (and possibly permanent) food and shelter. My biggest concern here is that these “missionaries” are forcing their beliefs of caring for the poor in a meaningful, direct, and compassionate manner on poverty-stricken children in an extreme time of need. Disgusting.

I have a short response to specifics on the State of the Union which I will be posting soon! It will bore you to tears and incite anger and wrath on the part of many! Children will be crying in the streets! I would like to mention, though, that I do think that this past year (which was dismal for the Democrats at best) has flicked a switch in President Obama’s head (not so much for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid). He pretty much told Republicans (and this is paraphrased…but still pretty accurate), “Look, you’re not going to get a 100% Republican bill. Work with us, and I’ll tell my side to stop being such douchers about healthcare and give a little as well. Cool? Alright awesome let’s stop sucking as politicians.”

Person of the Week: Jeremiah Weaver - with this guy he really had to hit a home run finding a girl because, well, you know...momo... Anyway, Charity is awesome, Jeremiah really did hit it out of the park by wooing her, and the Weaver family will be bigger and better come June! Congratulations guys! (They are engaged fyi. I know, Jeremiah found a WOMAN

My only problem with the commercial is that it opens the doors for every group to air a commercial on the Super Bowl. If they aired the commercial during any other time that would be fine with me. But I, like so many others, also like to be entertained by the commercials. I am just afraid that since CBS let this one air they are soon going to be forced to let other activist groups to air their message. Once they deny a group a lawsuit will occur and a big hoopla over equality or some shhh (that was a cuss word but I like to censor myself for the children) and I'll just sigh yet again at our sue happy society. I wouldn't even be surprised if a group tries to air an ad that they know will get rejected just for the free publicity. I know I just kinda rambled on for a little their but long story short...Air the commercial, just not during the Super Bowl.

Dear Sir,
Well said. I feel that many times people who push for a woman's right to choose are actually only pushing for the right to have an abortion and really don't care what the other side has to say. I feel that many people who claim they are pro choice are really only pro their choice. Many people who claim to be open-minded are really the most close minded of all. People let's be candid. Both sides are really biased, whether you like it or not. I wish people would just come out and say what they REALLY feel. ha. As for me, I'm PRO-LIFE.
